Getting ready for summer

Enjoy some of our local wildlife. Maine is home to a variety of wildlife. We often get "visitors".

Cockers Rule

Hummingbirds return each year and become quite familiar ... and very demanding if you neglect to keep their feeder full. Small in size but big in attitude! This little lady is smaller than my thumb!

Below, a turkey hen and one of her chicks are out for an early morning breakfast.

Some of our other visitors are deer and coyotes - photos on the right. We have a camera installed in the woods at the back of our property that regularly "captures" nighttime visitors.

You can view more local wildlife photos on the Wildlife page.

And now for some wildlife that isn't so local ...

This page is for sharing hobbies and news with our friends in the Cocker Spaniel community. If you would like to include your hobbies or anything you wish to share with the "cocker" community, please feel free to contribute!

We've added a special section - Paw Prints - for owners of Somerset companions to share their pet pictures. If you would like to submit a photo or two and an update of your Somerset Cocker, please email us and we'll be sure to post it. We love it when our Cockers stay in touch!

Our Local Wildlife

A doe nurses her baby just before dawn.
A doe nurses her fawn.
This photo was snapped just before dawn so this must be breakfast.

A young buck
A young buck stopped by early Thanksgiving morning.
I don't think he expected turkey. Maybe he was looking for some apple pie?

A Maine coyote makes a rest stop.
We have coyotes in Maine. This female visits often.
I don't think she expected to be photographed in this particular position. When you gotta go, you gotta go!.
